Zoe and Gramma's Special Day

She was one of those "surprise" babies that God knew we needed. When her mommy told me she was coming, her bigger sister was only 5 months old, and her biggest sister was only four.

But from the moment I held her in my arms, I knew she was sent to us for a purpose. She might be tiny, still only a little over 30 pounds on her sixth birthday, but still able to let the world know that she was sent to make a difference in our lives. One way she does that is by making us laugh.

I knew our "little peanut" was going to be delightful when she was two and that's all she wanted for Christmas was a goat. She didn't get a real one, but loved the stuffed one she got.

Yesterday, she and I got to spend a special day together. Just Zoe and Gramma on her special day to celebrate her sixth birthday that will be here this week. She made Gramma smile the whole day.

Since this is the year to go to build-a-bear for the birthday's of children ages  6-10 in our family, that's where we went first. (This gramma thought she might not enjoy the trip since it is the fourth time I've been there in six weeks, but I found it quite different than the other three times)

But Zoe, being Zoe, didn't want a bear from build-a-bear. She wanted something more "fun." And what is more fun that a "rainbow zebra" in a sequined dress with matching shoes, and sun glasses! .

With "rainbow" in her arms, Zoe decided she then wanted to go to the pet store. There were no goats there, but we did find a cute white puppy that we could play with for a awhile. Zoe giggled when the puppy gave up it's toy and grabbed the handle of Gramma's purse and wouldn't let go.

After a stop at the cookie store to purchase two birthday sprinkle cookies, we were off to Gramma's favorite spot where I take all the granddaughters. I now have a picture of all of them with me at "The Girl and the Gramma" statue.

Then I discovered something about Zoe that I didn't know. She loves to pose for pictures! It's amazing what you discover about a child when you have a little one-on-one time with them. And of course since we were at the botanical gardens, the setting was perfect! She liked the one of her in the tree the best.
