Jack and Gramma's Special Day

This is the year that Gramma decided to spend a whole day alone with her birthday kids. Last week it was 7 yr. old Nora's day, This week it was 7 year old Jack's turn. Both days were equally wonderful, but oh so different.
They started out the same...at Build a bear. See last week's post for Nora's choice in bears. Jack decided on a "jack-rabbit" instead of a bear. What a lesson in "being male" this Gramma got! The rabbit got a Star Wars outfit and the song was sewn inside. But it also got a heart from Gramma put inside that said how much she loved Jack. I was informed that it was the most awesome jack rabbit ever! He named the thing "Darth Carrot". As you can tell the rabbit even got a light saver (what ever that is!)

After we got the "birth certificate" for Darth Carrot, we decided to go to the big book store because Jack loves to read. He was very impressed with the "millions of books" and we chose one to take to the park with us. Jack decided we should go to a park where we could go "hiking" so we went to Gramma's favorite park.

We came to a giant mansion and Jack wanted to go inside to see if it was haunted because he had never met a ghost and wanted to. He was disappointed to find no ghosts inside.

I took a picture of him in front of a big old tree in the mansion garden. It is one of the prettiest spots I've ever seen.

Then we headed on down the path till we came to the river. Jack wanted to take his shoes off and wade in it, but it was pretty cool and the river isn't very clean any more so we decided we'd walk in a river some other time.

Being at the river was the best part of Gramma's day. We read the book we bought at the store (Darth Carrot listened too!) Then Gramma told Jack a story about a young Indian brave who once paddled down that same river (when it was deeper, wider, and didn't have so may rocks and trees in it) and found a beautiful Indian princess sitting on the side of the river. Their families were at war with each other but when the two got married, their families became friends. Jack said it was a great story!

On the way home, Jack said it was a great day and Gramma loved it too.
