Thanksgiving, Easter, Christmas. I don't know which holiday is my favorite. Each one is special for a different reason.
How can a person not love Thanksgiving? While I was mixing up the pumpkin for the pies this morning I recognized how blessed I am. Like I said earlier in the week, the blessings are too numerous to even begin to list. But most of you know what they are, you have them too.
Then while I was stuffing the big fat turkey with all kinds of veggies and herbs (new recipe) I thought of those who may not have the blessings I have today. I read a book a couple of weeks ago, "Same Kind of Different as Me" and I can't get it out of my mind.
It was a reminder to me of how I can not take my blessings for granted. I could be poor, homeless, hungry, cold, sick or dying, friendless, alone without anyone to love or be loved by, angry or bitter. That list goes on too.
And I wonder, if I had no earthly blessings would I still love Thanksgiving? I hope so. Because even if I had no one or nothing in this life, I have hope for a better one in eternity.
So today, I am going to be thankful for one thing in particular. God's promises. If you don't know what they are, find a Bible, that's where we find them.
