Memorable Week

Some weeks of our lives will forever stand out as memorable.

For me, this one started out not so good. I have a huge remodeling job to do at my home and just the thought of it made me want to run away.

Our rec room was built in 1989 when our daughers were teenagers. The thought behind building it was if we had a room with a pool table, ping pong table, juke box and all kinds of games, the boyfriends of our daughters would keep them at our house instead of running them all around. It worked about 50% of the time.

It is a huge room; 24x32 i think. The 23 year old wall paper needed stripped off, the cathedral ceiling and walls painted, all of the woodwork painted, and it needed recarpeted........BAD! I tell you that just so you can understand why I wanted to run away.

First of all though, I had to go through all of the "stuff" that had accumulated throughout the years. Actually most of that has been moved to the garage where it will be sold if we can get anyone to buy it, which is doubtful. But the process was a trip back memory lane. And I guess this was as good of a week as any to go down that lane because I also turned sixty this week. Another reason for wanting to run.........back to age forty!

But, this week's trip down memory lane has taken me to today.

Tonight I am at Purdue University with my daughter, Jen and her daughter, Kate, who is my firstborn grandaughter. She will be graduating from high school in a few weeks and will be coming here next September. Can you believe I am old enough to have a grandaughter in college. Okay, maybe you can believe it, but I can't.

But as we walked the campus this evening I felt honored that she wanted me here to share this time with her and I have decided it is the perfect ending to this very memorable week. A week that has reminded me that I am a blessed woman.
