When I read the words of love that my daughters, nieces and young friends write on facebook about their little ones, I wonder if they realize that their own mothers feel the same way about them?
And i wonder, why, as our children get older, does it become more difficult for us to express that love like we did when they were younger?
We can no longer hold our adult children in our arms and rock them like we did when they were little and they would probably be annoyed if I insisted on hugging and kissing them as much as i do the grandchildren they have given me. But what I feel in my heart for them has never diminished. It has only grown stronger as the years go by.
So my dear young mothers, when you find there are no words in the English language that adequately describes the love you have for your children, stop and think for a minute that it is even more difficult for your own mothers to do so.
I guess a mother's love is one that we hope you feel as you grow older. It is the same love you feel for your little ones, but magnified by how ever old you are!
But just in case you don't feel it, I love you Jen, Missi and Cari.
